The 12th annual Whatcom County Buddy Walk, which raises awareness and money for programs that benefit people with Down syndrome and their families, is Saturday, Oct. 3.
The event, which includes a 1-mile walk, is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fairhaven Village Green, 10th Street and Mill Avenue. More than 350 people are expected.
The registration fee is $5 for children 6 to 12 years old and $10 for those 13 and older. There is no fee for people with Down syndrome, or children 5 and younger.
Lunch, a raffle, face painting, music and dancing also are part of the event, which is one of more than 300 Buddy Walks planned worldwide.
