The Best Western Lakeway Inn officially became the Four Points by Sheraton hotel on Thursday, Oct. 1. The hotel includes the Chinuk restaurant, remodeled early this year.

Playground peril
It took emergency personnel from two countries half an hour to free a “big strapping Canadian youth” from the Peace Arch State Park playground equipment he had managed to wedge into on Sept. 23. “His only lasting injury is the certain knowledge that his family will never forget the time he got himself stuck inside a toddler sized playground swing set,” notes the Blaine police log.

Walk for a good cause
The 12th annual Buddy Walk is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Fairhaven Village Green. Part of a national series of events, it raises awareness and money for programs that benefit people with Down syndrome and their families. Register online or at the walk. Learn more at arcwhatcom.org
