Recreational fires allowed in Bellingham, North Cascades
Recreational burn bans have been lifted in the city of Bellingham and in part of North Cascades National Park after days of rainy weather.
The announcements made Wednesday, Sept. 2, came two days after the recreational burn ban was lifted in unincorporated Whatcom County.
Yard burning remains banned. Details on the city’s recreational fire requirements are at cob.org/documents/fire/safety/recreational-burning-requirements.pdf.
Recreational fires are allowed in the Whatcom and Skagit County sections of North Cascades National Park lands and campgrounds. The ban remains in effect in the Chelan area. Check park status before burning.
People looking to dispose of tree limbs, leaves and other storm debris can drop them off at Clean Green, at the corner of Lakeway and Woburn streets, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. It costs $10 per load.
