Birch Bay Waterslides is planning to open on Friday, Sept. 4 for one final weekend of the season.

The waterslides at 4874 Birch Bay Lynden Road were closed following the windstorm that hit Whatcom County over the weekend. The original plan was to reopen Thursday, but staff decided to wait one more day while the latest storm passes through the area, said Iain Buchanan, general manager at the waterslides.

The windstorm knocked out power to the waterslides and caused some minor damage to the covered areas of the facility, including some “umbrellas that took some major flights,” Davidson said.

Hours for the Labor Day weekend will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Monday. Details and updates can be found on the Birch Bay Waterslides Facebook page.
