Small boat flips near Cherry Point, 5 have to swim to shore
Five people swam to shore after a boat they were on capsized near Cherry Point on Friday, Aug. 28, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
A 10-foot boat flipped about 500 yards from the shore at around 12:45 p.m., said U.S. Coast Guard Commanding Officer Chuck Chavtur.
Five people on board swam to shore, Chavtur said. No injuries were reported initially.
Information about why the boat capsized was not immediately available Friday afternoon.
