Aug. 26 event explores health, wellness issues for seniors

A free day of talks and information about health and wellness for seniors will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Bellingham Senior Activity Center, 315 Halleck St.

The program, called “What’s Next: Planning Ahead – Making Choices for Your Legacy & Health Care,” is present by the center in partnership with Northwest Regional Council and the Whatcom Alliance for Health Advancement.

Dan Murphy, executive director of Northwest Regional Council, will welcome participants at 9 a.m. At 9:45, morning presentations begin on palliative care, advanced directives, and guardian ad litem. Afternoon presentations focus on elder mediation and conflict, coping with terminal diagnoses, wills and legal issues, and Whatcom County’s Death Café.
