Residents displaced from Bellingham duplex following barbecue grill fire

Firefighters responded to a residential fire that was caused by a barbecue grill Tuesday, June 23 in Bellingham.

The fire occurred around 5:07 p.m., and firefighters arrived around 5:11 p.m. Crews cleared the scene along the 2700 block of West Indiana Street around 6:57 p.m., according to Bellingham Fire Department Capt. Dustin Michaelis.

The fire had moved along the back wall of a duplex and up into the attic. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire without any injuries, although multiple residents in the duplex were displaced for at least one night, Michaelis said.
