Outdoor movies return to Bellingham area. See summer lineup and prices
Movies are fun for the whole family, especially in the summer.
However, going to the theater isn’t always affordable.
Once you factor in movie tickets, snacks and travel expenses, costs can add up quickly.
Luckily, the Bellingham area has multiple budget-friendly options for filmgoers, include discount tickets, snack deals and outdoor movie screenings.
Here are several in store this summer:
What is Fairhaven Outdoor Cinema?
Fairhaven Outdoor Cinema is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026.
You can enjoy outdoor movie screenings on Saturdays on the Village Green next to Colophon Café and Village Books, 1208 11th St. in Bellingham, from July 18 to Aug. 22.
“Outdoor Cinema is such a fun community tradition, and half the experience is enjoying a summer evening on the Green with great food, treats and neighbors before the movie begins,” Kimberly Anderson, executive director of the Fairhaven Association, told The Bellingham Herald in an email.
Local dessert shops such as Sweet Haven and It’s The Sweet Things will be on site with treats. Visitors can look forward to flavored popcorn, fudge, cookies and other sweet snacks, according to Anderson.
“Jennifer from It’s the Sweet Things is even planning to create some movie-themed desserts, and we’re excited to see what she comes up with,” Anderson said.
Movie tickets cost $7 to $8, depending on whether you pay with cash or a card.
What’s playing at Bellingham’s Village Green? When?
To pair with the outdoor screening series’ 25th anniversary, Fairhaven Outdoor Cinema will be showing several movies that are marking big anniversaries.
All movie screenings will begin at dusk.
Here’s what is showing:
- July 18: “Legally Blonde”
- July 25: “Shrek”
- Aug. 1: “Labyrinth”
- Aug. 8: “The Princess Bride”
- Aug. 15: “Spirited Away”
- Aug. 22: “A Knight’s Tale"
When is drive-in movie night at Lincoln Creek?
That’s not the only fun brewing in Bellingham for summer nights.
On Saturday, Sept. 12, the Foundation for WWU & Alumni will host a Drive-In Movie event at the Lincoln Creek Park and Ride, 800 Lincoln St. in Bellingham.
Classic movie musical “Grease” will be shown on the big screen.
Admission costs $15 a car, but there is no limit to how many people can be in your car at the time of the showing.
“Every car receives a free bag of popcorn at check in, and you are welcome to bring your own snacks and food,” organizers said. “A food truck will be on-site with additional items available for purchase.”
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie will begin at 7:30 p.m.
