A 62-year-old Ferndale man was killed following a car crash Saturday along Mount Baker Highway (State Route 542).

The man was heading west in a 2009 Mazda sedan when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 1992 Toyota 4Runner head on, according to an incident report from Washington State Patrol. A 27-year-old man from Maple Falls was driving the Toyota.

The collision occurred around 10:37 a.m. Saturday just north of Bell Creek Road, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. The Ferndale man died at the scene. The other driver was injured in the crash and was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham.
