Bellingham airport adds another daily nonstop flight to popular West Coast city

Bellingham travelers will soon have another daily flight option to visit a popular Pacific Northwest city.

Bellingham International Airport (BLI) is adding a second daily flight to Portland International Airport (PDX) after initially launching the nonstop service on Alaska Airlines in March, the Port of Bellingham and the airport announced in a social media post Monday.

“But we’re not stopping there. We’re actively working to bring more destinations, more routes, and more frequent service to our region because this community deserves it. The incredible support you’ve shown BLI and our current routes keeps us going, and we couldn’t be more grateful to every traveler who continues to make BLI their airport of choice,” the post states.

The launch of the Portland flight earlier this year marked the first time BLI had a direct PDX connection in almost eight years. Airport officials credited the strong response from the community as the reason Alaska is now doubling the schedule.

Starting Nov. 1, travelers will be able to catch a midday flight in either direction. A flight from PDX to BLI will arrive locally at 11:55 a.m., while a flight from BLI to PDX will depart locally at 12:35 p.m.

Alaska’s current daily nonstop flight to Portland departs from BLI at 7:55 a.m. and arrives at PDX at 8:55 a.m. The return flight departs PDX at 9:50 p.m. and arrives at BLI at 10:51 p.m.

“Every flight you take here sends a powerful message to airlines: this community shows up. So keep flying BLI,” the post said.

Bellingham International Airport currently offers nonstop flights to Seattle, Portland, Oakland, Palm Springs, Burbank, Phoenix Mesa, Las Vegas, and multiple locations in the San Juan Islands, according to the airport’s website.
