Engine failure forces pilot to make emergency landing at Bellingham airport
The pilot of a private airplane reported an engine failure and made an emergency landing around 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Bellingham International Airport.
The pilot of a Beech C99 aircraft radioed flight control around 3:50 p.m. to warn them an engine on the plane was out, according to Bellingham Fire Capt. Dustin Michaelis.
Emergency services from the Bellingham Fire Department responded and were standing by as the plane made a safe landing, Michaelis said.
The pilot was the only person on the plane, according to Michaelis.
The UAS Transervices owned plane had taken off from Spokane and was scheduled to land at BLI before reporting the engine failure, according to Port of Bellingham Public Affairs Administrator Michael Hogan.
