The pilot of a private airplane reported an engine failure and made an emergency landing around 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Bellingham International Airport.

The pilot of a Beech C99 aircraft radioed flight control around 3:50 p.m. to warn them an engine on the plane was out, according to Bellingham Fire Capt. Dustin Michaelis.

Emergency services from the Bellingham Fire Department responded and were standing by as the plane made a safe landing, Michaelis said.

The pilot was the only person on the plane, according to Michaelis. Details regarding where the plane was coming from, what it was transporting or where it was headed were not available.
