The Downtown Bellingham Partnership is shining a light on downtown’s radiant restaurant scene and encouraging locals to eat downtown this week as part of a new project called Local Lunch Break.

Residents are encouraged to eat at participating restaurants March 16-20 for a chance to win $25 downtown Bellingham gift cards. Restaurants will also be offering special deals and menu items during lunch for the week.

“Lunch can be more than a quick transaction. It can be a moment of connection,” Downtown Bellingham Partnership Community Engagement Manager Nathalie Wagler wrote in a news release. “When we choose to meet downtown, we’re investing in our relationships and in the local businesses that create spaces for community to thrive.”

While dining at a participating restaurant, customers can scan a QR code to enter to win gift cards.

“At a time when many people work remotely, eat on the go or default to the office break room, Local Lunch Break highlights the social value of gathering in ‘third places,’ welcoming spaces outside of home and work where community happens naturally,” the news release states.

Participating restaurants include:

  • AB Crepes
  • Banter
  • Avenue Bread & Deli
  • El Capitan’s Gourmet Sausages and Pretzels
  • Hela Provisions
  • Fiamma Burger
  • Fiamma Pizza
  • CHeBA Hut
  • Bar Cicotti
  • JUXT Taphouse
  • Horseshoe Cafe
  • Old World Deli
  • Leaf & Ladle
  • Penny Farthing Bar & Restaurant
  • Mercato delle Bonta
  • Structures Brewing
  • Pye Hold
  • The Daisy Cafe
  • Storia Cucina

“Sharing a meal with a friend, coworker or client creates space for meaningful conversation while supporting the independent restaurants that make downtown vibrant,” the news release states.
