Whatcom County man with outstanding warrant arrested after brief chase
Deputies with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after he eluded police vehicles.
Authorities learned Ryszard Dylczyk, 21, of Maple Falls was at a compound off Lattimore Road around 2:30 p.m. March 7, according to Deb Slater with The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office. Dylczyk had a warrant out for his arrest from 2023 for third-degree assault with a weapon and third-degree malicious mischief.
Dylczyk drove away from the scene at high speed when deputies approached the compound. Although deputies attempted to stop Dylczyk, he eluded them. His vehicle was later found abandoned in the 1200 block of Sunset Avenue, according to Slater.
Authorities employed a drone and a K9 unit to locate Dylczyk in a nearby wooded area, and he was taken into custody without incident, according to Slater.
Dylczyk was booked into the Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of attempting to elude police as well as the previous charges of assault and malicious mischief. He is facing two class C felonies and a gross misdemeanor.
