Gas prices rise sharply across the board in Washington, according to latest data
Gas prices rose in Bellingham, Whatcom County and Washington this month in comparison to The Herald’s February survey, and we found the cheapest local gas station for you.
The average price of a gallon of gas across the United States was $3.10 on Tuesday, March 3, according to AAA — 22 cents up from last month. Last year, the nation’s average was $3.09.
Here’s the local breakdown:
Washington
Washington’s average cost of gas per gallon is now $4.38 — a 43-cent increase compared to February’s average. Last March, gas averaged $4.13 a gallon in Washington, according to AAA.
Washington has the third-highest gas prices in the country, following California at $4.67 a gallon and Hawaii at $4.40, according to AAA. Washington has now had the third-highest gas prices in the U.S. for five consecutive months.
Whatcom County and Bellingham
Whatcom County’s average cost of gas is $4.27 a gallon, a 45-cent increase compared to February.
On Tuesday, March 3, Bellingham’s average price for a gallon of gas was $4.28, according to AAA, a 43-cent increase compared to February.
County’s cheapest gas
