Downtown Bellingham distillery and bar plans new Portal container village spot
A new addition is coming to Bellingham’s waterfront, adding a two-story bar to The Portal Container Village.
The Portal Container Village is one of Bellingham’s most popular summer spots. It’s home to Kulshan Brewing’s Trackside beer garden, live music, restaurants and local businesses. Each business is uniquely located inside a metal shipping container.
This year, Chuckanut Bay Distillery is joining The Portal, and building a new two-story facility at the waterfront destination.
“We’re excited to bring the spirit of our Cornwall space to Trackside. Our new Container Village location will feature bar seating inside the container, a rooftop deck with water views, and plenty of outdoor space to gather, relax, and connect,” Ethan Lynette, partner at Chuckanut Bay Distillery, told The Bellingham Herald.
Chuckanut Bay Distillery is located in downtown Bellingham and creates its own whiskeys, bourbons, vodkas and its famous “Krampus” cinnamon herbal liqueur. Its flagship location also includes its restaurant, Penny Farthing.
Now the popular distillery will open its second location at The Portal, continuing to serve its homemade spirits.
“Our goal is to serve exceptional cocktails in a comfortable indoor-outdoor setting that feels unmistakably Bellingham,” Lynette said.
The new bar will open in May, following The Portal’s season opening, according to Lynette.
The Portal Container Village is at 298 W Laurel St. in Bellingham.
