An award-winning bakery based in Seattle is adding a new location in Ferndale that will open later this month.

Piroshky Piroshky, a popular Eastern European-inspired bakery, has been operating out of Pike Place Market for more than three decades since being started by Olga Sagan, the company’s sole owner.

“Founded in 1992 and proudly woman and immigrant-owned, Piroshky Piroshky has become a Pike Place Market staple, serving millions of visitors from around the world each year,” a news release from the company states. “We were featured on ‘No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain’ on The Travel Channel, as well as on The Zimmern List, introducing our handcrafted savory and sweet Piroshky to a national audience.”

The bakery is known for its authentic piroshky hand-pie pastries in a variety of flavors, including smoked salmon, orange cream, chicken pot pie, and beef and cheese, as well as cinnamon cardamom braids and chocolate cream hazelnut rolls.

The bakery regularly hosts pop-up events across the country, including recent events in Bellingham.

“Since 2020, Piroshky Piroshky has proudly included the Bellingham area in its regular roster of pop-up locations. We are thrilled to now take the next step by partnering with the Lummi Nation to bring our handmade pastries to a new permanent home in the community,” the news release states.

The new Piroshky Piroshky bakery location will open Friday, Feb. 27 at Lummi Bay Market, a large service station on Rural Avenue just south of Slater Road.

“We are excited to serve both longtime fans and new guests throughout Whatcom County with the same time-honored recipes and quality that have defined Piroshky Piroshky for more than 30 years. Every piroshky is carefully baked in our ovens and placed into your hands with pride,” the news release states.

Lummi Island Market is open 24 hours daily at 4839 Rural Ave in Ferndale.
