Preparing for flooding? Here’s where to get sandbags in Whatcom County

As the Nooksack River continues to rise with rainfall, officials are making sandbags available for residents looking to help hold back overflowing water. Here’s where to get sandbags in affected areas:

  • Everson City Shop, located at 605 Robinson St. These sandbags are for Everson and Nooksack residents.
  • Phillips 66 baseball fields, located at 5541 2nd Ave. in Ferndale, at the gravel lot at the end of Second Avenue.
  • Whatcom County Northwest Annex, located at 5280 Northwest Dr. Sandbags and sand are available, but the bags are not pre-filled. Those filling sandbags should enter from Northwest Drive.
  • City of Sumas sandbagging machine, located at 3698 Kneuman Rd. Sandbags are available until 3 p.m.

All sandbags are first come, first served. Sandbags may also be available for purchase at local hardware stores.

This article will be updated as new information becomes available.
