Are rental prices getting better in Whatcom County? Here’s how each city ranks
A recent survey of rental prices in Whatcom County shows a decrease in average November prices so far compared to last month. That includes a price drop in Bellingham and nearly all other towns.
The average price for Bellingham rentals of all bedrooms and all property types was $2,057 on Nov. 7, according to data from Zillow. That’s a $143 decrease compared to October’s average price, and an increase of $157 compared to November last year.
“The price range for all bedrooms and all property types is $510 to $11,000,” according to Zillow’s November data, and Bellingham’s average rental price is 3% higher than the national average in November.
Prices dropped across all types of rentals, according to real estate data company Zumper.
“A one-bedroom apartment in Bellingham costs about $1,525 on average, while a two-bedroom apartment is $1,800,” according to Zumper. “Houses for rent in Bellingham are more expensive, with an average monthly cost of $2,700.”
Last month, o-bedroom apartments were $1,550 on average, two-bedroom apartments were $1,825 on average, and houses were $2,800 on average, according to Zumper.

Zillow rent price data can also be compared by city. Here are Whatcom County’s average rent prices for Nov. 7:
- Bellingham: $2,057, a decrease compared to last month.
- Lynden: $1,975, the same price as last month.
- Blaine: $2,275, an increase compared to last month.
- Ferndale: $2,293, a decrease compared to last month.
- Point Roberts: $2,000, a decrease compared to last month.
- Sumas: $1,650, the same price as last month.
- Everson: $2,100, a decrease compared to last month.
- Birch Bay: $2,000, a decrease compared to last month.
- Deming: $2,600, an increase compared to last month.
