Wind over the weekend knocked a few letters from Bellingham’s iconic Mount Baker Theatre sign, and the city has stepped in to help repair the damage.

Wind nearly knocked the “B” and “A” off the theater’s spire, according to a social media post from the Mount Baker Theatre.

The Department of Public Works received notice that the letter “B” on the spire was coming loose and hanging by threads, according to a recent newsletter update from the city.

The Bellingham Police Department responded and used a drone to assess the damage. The Bellingham Fire Department was also called in to provide help using a ladder truck, according to the city.

Fire staff used the ladder truck to remove the two letters from the spire before they could fall and cause more damage.

The city says the letters will be replaced as soon as a safe solution is in place.
