Whatcom County solar company invited on HGTV show after project on hosts’ home
Whatcom County’s Barron Heating has been invited to be featured on an HGTV home renovation show after impressing the show’s hosts with a solar panel project.
Barron Heating AC Electrical and Plumbing’s solar panel division, Solar by Barron, installed a solar system and battery backup at the home of Dave and Jenny Marrs, the hosts of HGTV’s Fixer to Fabulous television series.
“A Solar by Barron team traveled to the Marrs’ home in Bentonville, Ark., installing a 52,430-watt solar panel system. The panels were manufactured by Silfab Solar, which has facilities in Skagit County and North Carolina. Additionally, Solar by Barron installed a 15kW FranklinWH battery backup system with the goal of eliminating the couple’s entire electrical bill and adding backup power for outages,” a news release from Barron stated.
“I know that energy will get more expensive. And the backup battery is ideal for times when tornadoes, ice storms and other outages occur in Arkansas,” Marrs said in the release.
“From the beginning, our vision was simple: If we could make heating and cooling systems more efficient and then pair them with solar, families could dramatically reduce their energy needs and costs,” Barron Heating AC Electrical & Plumbing CEO Brad Barron said in the release. “For Dave and Jenny, that means a system that not only powers their home sustainably but also provides peace of mind when the lights go out.”
“The system now generates as much energy as the family uses, essentially zeroing out their energy consumption. But Dave and Jenny Marrs said sustainable energy wasn’t just about saving money — it was about stewardship, caring for the earth and passing those values to their children. They wanted to fully harness natural resources from their farm and create a clean energy legacy,” the news release said.
The successful project even led to Dave Marrs inviting Barron to be a part of a home renovation on a “Fixer to Fabulous” episode this winter.
“I will not feature something that I haven’t tried myself,” Marrs said.
