Whatcom County issues warning over recalled HelloFresh ready-made meals
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service is issuing a public health alert for certain HelloFresh ready made meals, according to a news release from Whatcom County Health and Community Services.
The first product is the 10.1-ounce container of HelloFresh ready-made cheesy pulled pork pepper pasta, with establishment number 47718 and lot code 49107, or establishment number 2937 and lot code 48840.
The second product is a 10-ounce container of unstuffed peppers with ground turkey, Establishment number P-47718 and lot codes 50069, 50073 or 50698.
The products are being recalled since they may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to the release, although there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from these products.
“Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions, sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. An invasive infection spreads beyond the gastrointestinal tract. In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery, or life-threatening infection of the newborn. In addition, serious and sometimes fatal infections can occur in older adults and persons with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis is treated with antibiotics. Persons in the higher-risk categories who experience flu-like symptoms within two months after eating contaminated food should seek medical care and tell the health care provider about eating the contaminated food,” according to the release.
The release states that anyone concerned about their health should contact a health care provider.
