Whatcom Roundup: New restaurant proposed; China Palace repurposed; CVS opens

Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail and restaurant activity around Whatcom County:

New Mexican restaurant proposed

A building permit application for a new sign and awning has been filed for Tacos Guadalajara at 1007 Harris Ave., the current location of Jalapeno’s Mexican Restaurant.

Jalapeno’s has not announced it is closing. The permit application was submitted Sept. 2 and had not been approved as of Sept. 5.

China Palace building to be repurposed

A building permit application has been filed for the previous location of the China Palace restaurant at 4444 Meridian St. Plans call for the restaurant to be converted into retail and office space under the name “Pagoda Capital LLC.”

The permit was submitted Sept. 3 and had not been approved as of Sept. 5.

CVS Pharmacy opens

CVS Pharmacy has opened its new location at 220 36th St., after taking over the previous location of Rite Aid, according to the company’s website.

The store and pharmacy are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It offers immunizations, in-store pick-up and prescription delivery.
