Woman arrested after man injured in alleged Bellingham knife attack
A woman is in custody after being arrested for allegedly attacking a man with a knife in Bellingham.
The 24-year-old woman was at an apartment with the man on June 30, in the 3800 block of Elwood Avenue. Police said the two began to argue about a broken TV. The man tried to leave the apartment, but the woman allegedly blocked his path by standing in the doorway, Lt. Claudia Murphy with the Bellingham Police Department said.
When the man pushed his way through the door, the woman allegedly punched him in the face several times, Murphy told The Bellingham Herald.
The man soon returned to the apartment, and another argument started.
The woman allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and swung it at the man, leaving a cut along his cheek and a stab wound to his hand. The man’s injuries did not require transportation to the hospital, according to police.
A no-contact order had previously been established between the two individuals, police said.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault, a class A felony, unlawful imprisonment, a class C felony, violation of a court order, a class C felony, possession of methamphetamine, a class B felony and third-degree malicious mischief, a gross misdemeanor.
She remains in custody at Whatcom County Jail as of Tuesday morning.
