Kali Herbst Minino

The Bellingham Herald is pleased to introduce this year’s summer intern, Kali Herbst Minino, a third-year journalism and public interest communications student at the University of Washington.

Their favorite writing topics are LGBTQ+ people and labor movements. Most recently, they covered unionizing In-Home-Supportive-Services workers in California. Outside of student news, they work as a freelance journalist and have published in Seattle Gay News, the Capitol Hill Seattle Blog, Seattle Pride Magazine and Shasta Scout. They also volunteer for Sinister Wisdom, a lesbian literary journal.

When they’re not reporting, Herbst Minino uses a restaurant job to fund their freelance journalism habit. They love a good book in a coffee shop, and their favorite fun fact is that rats can jump up to 4 feet high.
