Here are the street closures for Bellingham’s June 14 ‘No Kings’ protest

Cities across the country are expected to see protests this weekend in response to a military parade thrown by President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., as well as the actions of his administration in its first four-plus months.

The parade is scheduled for June 14 — the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. military, which is also the president’s birthday. The timing has drawn criticism from some who have compared it to the actions of a dictatorship or monarchy, something the protest movement’s name, “No Kings,” hints at.

Will Bellingham have a “No Kings” protest?

Like dozens of other Washington cities, Bellingham will have a protest of its own.

It will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. in front of Bellingham City Hall, 210 Lottie Street.

Will there be any street closures?

In an email to The Herald, a spokesperson for the city’s public works department said that a special event permit allowing for street closures has been issued for the protest.

According to the public works department, the only street closed for the protest will be the block of Lottie Street between Grand Avenue and Commercial Street. The closure will run from 2 to 6:30 p.m. The city previously included the block of Grand Avenue between Lottie Street and Central Avenue as well, but now says that street will remain open.
