Whatcom Youth Pride parade and festival returns this weekend in Bellingham

The Whatcom Youth Pride parade and festival returns for its fifth year this weekend, celebrating school-age kids and their families and supporters.

A parade at 11 a.m. Saturday starts from the corner of Halleck Street and Cornwall Avenue, kitty-corner from Bellingham High.

From there, it follows a 1-mile route south on Cornwall and turns west onto York Street. It heads north on Commercial Street past the Bellingham Public Library and City Hall, finally turning right onto Young Street and right on Halleck to the starting point.

Spectators are welcome to line the streets, but participants are limited to youth, according to the Whatcom Youth Pride website. To march, line up by 10:45 a.m. with other participants at the corner of Halleck and Cornwall.

The parade will be followed by a festival from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bellingham High, 2020 Cornwall Ave., featuring performances, food trucks, information tables and a queer youth art market.
