Whatcom Roundup: Barkley Village addition, ice facility coming to Lynden
Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail and restaurant activity around Whatcom County:
New Pilates studio opening in Barkley
A new business called Club Pilates will soon join Barkley Village, according to recent building permit applications and the business’ website.
The chain pilates studio business has locations across the country, including Mill Creek, Bothell and Bellevue. The new Bellingham location will be the first in Whatcom County. No opening date has been announced.
Once operating, the studio will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 2945 Newmarket St., Suite 107.
New Lynden Ice facility
Lynden Ice has broken ground on a new 18,000-square-foot facility that is being built by Faber Construction, according to a news release from the construction company.
The new plant will be “a modern facility designed to meet updated health department regulations while incorporating state-of-the-art automation and efficient construction techniques,” and is proposed to be completed by the end of August.
“The new facility will significantly improve the sanitation and efficiency of Lynden Ice’s operations by utilizing automated elements in the ice production process. Though not fully automated, the system is designed to reduce human contact with the product, aligning with stringent health and safety standards.”
No address was provided for the new building.
New dog hydrotherapy facility opens
The Canine Aquatic Center at Larson Farm, a hydrotherapy pool facility that offers dog therapy and messages, is now open in Bellingham.
Hydrotherapy “provides key mental and emotional stimulation such as relaxation, a sense of well being, and activating endorphins,” as well as helps with weight management, building and maintaining muscle, improving mobility and circulation and rehabilitation for dogs, according to the business’ website.
The Canine Aquatic Center is open for appointments only at 4159 Dewey Road in Bellingham.
