Blaine man killed in single-vehicle crash along I-5 North in Whatcom County

A Blaine man died in a car crash Monday morning in Whatcom County.

Mark A. Bunch, 34, was driving north on Interstate 5 near Custer School Road in a 1998 Mazda Protege when the vehicle left the roadway to the right around 7:31 a.m. April 21, according to a Washington State Patrol news release.

The vehicle struck a tree, rolled over and came to a rest in the bushes on the right shoulder of the interstate, according to the release.

WSP reports that the crash remains under investigation, and drugs and/or alcohol were involved. Bunch was wearing a seat belt, according to the release.
