Enjoy a brew for a good cause during Bellingham’s April Brews Day festival

April Brews Day, a one-day fundraiser and beer festival, is returning to Bellingham’s waterfront on Saturday, April 26 to help raise funds for a local nonprofit organization.

The 21st annual festival is a fundraiser benefiting the the Max Higbee Center, a local organization that creates recreation programs for kids and adults with developmental disabilities, according to a news release from event organizers.

“We look forward to celebrating and raising funds for Max Higbee Center’s programs promoting health, personal growth, community access, and belonging,” Riannon Bardsley, the center’s executive director, stated in the release.

The Max Higbee Center directly benefits from the festival’s proceeds and uses the funds and other donations toward its mission:

“We provide community-based recreation programs for youth and adults with developmental disabilities with three broad aims: 1. To provide opportunities for personal enjoyment and enrichment through a diverse range of leisure activities. 2. To promote the social, physical, emotional, and cognitive growth and development of participants. 3. To assist participants to achieve greater independence in their lives and increased involvement in the community,” the organization’s website states.

The beer festival will feature brews from 50 Pacific Northwest craft breweries and cideries, live music and food from local vendors and restaurants.

The 21-and-up festival runs from 4:30 to 8 p.m. for general admission ticket holders, or 3 to 8 p.m. for VIP ticket holders.

General admission tickets include eight tasting tickets for breweries and food trucks and a collectible tasting cup and cost $65 in advance or $75 at the door. VIP tickets include advanced entry, a collectible cup and 10 tasting tickets and costs $90 online only. Extra tasting tickets will be available for purchase at the event.

April Brews Day is at Bellingham’s Waterfront Park at 1145 Granary Ave. in Bellingham.
