Whatcom County’s median home price rose again in February; here’s how Washington fared
Median home sale prices in Whatcom County and Bellingham increased in February, while Washington is the fifth most-expensive state in the country for purchasing a home.
Whatcom housing market
Whatcom County’s median home sale price reached an extreme high of $682,000 in July 2024, according to Redfin Metro Area Data. Redfin, a residential real estate brokerage that uses home listings to generate metro area data.
In January, Whatcom’s median home sale price rose to $638,000, according to RedFin data. Last month, between Feb. 3 and March 2, the median home sale price was $615,000.
Whatcom County’s median sold price across all of February was $600,000, a 1.7% increase compared with January, and a 5.6% increase compared with February 2024, according to Jason Lee, a local broker with Windermere Real Estate in Bellingham.
“This past February, Whatcom County and Bellingham both saw the highest average continuous days on market for homes in the past 12 months,” Lee told The Herald.
“Of all homes that pended in February, 20% received multiple offers,” Lee said.
Bellingham’s housing market
The median price of homes sold in February in Bellingham was $650,093, a 4.9% increase compared to February 2024, according to data from Rocket Homes.
In February, Bellingham’s median asking price was $639,000, according to Lee of Windermere Real Estate. That’s a 2.1% decrease compared with January and a 2.2% increase compared with February of last year, Lee said.
Washington housing market
Washington’s median home sale price in February was $629,000, an increase of 1.8% compared to February 2024, according to Redfin data.
In March so far, Washington’s median home sale price is $606,000m making it the fifth-most expensive state in which to purchase a home, according to March 2025 Redfin data, following California with a median sale price of $785,000, Hawaii at $779,000, Massachusetts at $622,000 and Colorado at $607,000.
