Dozens of Bellingham residents will hold a vigil for Michael Brown near Bellis Fair mall on Aug. 9, 2015, one year after Brown was shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Mo.
The Bellingham Racial Justice Coalition will have a moment of silence at Cornwall Park starting at 5:30 p.m. Sunday to celebrate Brown’s life.
They will then march north on Meridian Street toward Bellis Fair mall and hold a vigil at 6:20 p.m. on the street, near the mall’s entrance but off mall grounds. The group will march back to Cornwall Park after the vigil.
A national moment of silence, lasting 4 1/2 minutes, also will be held Sunday at 9:55 a.m. Pacific time, organized by the Ferguson Action Committee.
