Fairhaven, Edgemoor and Port of Bellingham properties could lose water service or see lower water pressure for several hours while crews fix a broken water main.
The city reports a 16-inch diamter iron pipe installed in the area in 1983 burst some time around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, near Sixth Avenue and Harris Street.
As of 3:40 p.m., the city estimated it would take six to eight hours for Bellingham Public Works crews to restore service to the area.
Crews were responding to both repair the line and manage any flooding.
