Lummi Island ferry to have annual dry-dock maintenance

Whatcom Chief users should note that ferry service between Lummi Island and Gooseberry Point is scheduled to be passenger-only from Thursday, Sept. 10, to Oct. 1, for the ferry’s annual dry-dock maintenance.

Due to tidal restrictions, the Whatcom Chief’s last crossing for vehicles prior to dry dock will be at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9. The last ferry from the Gooseberry Point side will be at 10:10 p.m. and the last run from the Lummi Island side will be at 10 p.m.

This schedule could change, and updates will be provided as the work progresses.

Shuttle service will be available on the island for up to 14 passengers. Arrive early for pickup. No bicycles or pets will be allowed on the shuttle.

Parking will be available in designated locations, to be posted at Gooseberry Point and online. Cars must be parked in designated areas or they will be towed.

Copies of the passenger-only ferry schedule, the parking map, and the shuttle schedule and route, are available at whatcomchief.org.
