If one of your goals for the new year is to find a new job, it’s not too late. The first month or two of a new year are often considered the best time to look for a new job, as companies are assessing their needs for the coming year.

Just over three weeks into 2025, there’s still plenty of time to catch the New Year’s hiring wave. Here are seven jobs in Bellingham or Whatcom County across a wide range of fields that are hiring now.

Branch Manager II — WECU

  • Salary: $81,289 to $114,762 a year
  • Description: Leads the team of WECU’s Holly Street team, providing direction and overseeing day-to-day operations. Manages and trains staff, coordinates within and across departments and monitors branch procedures, to ensure the branch is operating efficiently.
  • Requirements: High school diploma or GED and three to five years of related experience or equivalent combination of higher education and experience. Previous experience as a supervisor, past training in a financial institution preferred. Strong communication, collaboration and contact-building skills, understanding of credit union’s computer system.

Fraud Manager — WECU

  • Salary: $81,290 to $114,762 a year
  • Description: Oversees incident management, fraud risk management, and red flag/identity theft management at WECU. Oversees fraud investigations and analyzes potential fraud threats, communicates findings with management.
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred, four years of progressive experience in the fraud risk management field, strong leadership, multitasking and organization skills, strong judgment, proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Financial Analyst — Family Care Network

  • Salary: $29.37 to $44.08 an hour
  • Description: Conducts reviews to make sure financial data is accurate, helps develop reimbursement models, maintains general ledger interface for the practice management billing system, conducts cash flow analyses, helps develop budgets.
  • Requirements: Understands accounting systems and principles, problem-solving skills, experience with health information systems and Microsoft Office. GED or high school diploma required with a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration preferred, four years of accounting experience (CPA certification preferred), experience with developing budgets, cost reports, and financial projections.

Human Resources Director — City of Bellingham

  • Salary: $169,164 to $204,696 a year
  • Description: Oversees the city’s workforce strategy, including talent development and retention and employee and collective bargaining unit support, leads a team of 25.
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, public administration, business administration or related field (master’s degree preferred). Three years of an HR senior management position, labor relations experience with labor relations or HR certification preferred.

Current Planning Division Manager — Whatcom County

  • Salary: $94,512 to $137,244 a year
  • Description: Provides timely and accurate information on land use permit application reviews, and current planning programs and products, oversees code enforcement team, enforces decisions from hearings or appeals, develops procedures to make the land use permit review process more efficient.
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in planning or a field related to natural resources (master’s degree preferred), five years of related experience with two of those coming in a supervisory role, American Institute of Certified Planners certification preferred, understanding of Washington state and Whatcom County land use and natural resource laws.

Laboratory IT Manager — Avero Diagnostics/Northwest Pathology

  • Salary: $96,000 to $120,000 a year
  • Description: Oversees information technology department, managing program portfolio and department priorities, communicating with other departments to understand and implement project needs and hiring and developing staff.
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, information systems preferred. Four years of experience in IT (two in a leadership role), strong computer skills and understand of security, systems administration and data storage, IT service management and project management. Strong communication, organization and leadership skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Plant Controller (Lynden) — Darigold

  • Salary: $80,587 to $142,212 a year
  • Description: Provides financial analysis of plant operations, evaluating internal controls, providing recommendations to make the plant more efficient. Ensures compliance with company policies, conducts monthly reports, occasionally leads special projects.
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar field, three to five years of accounting experience (accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred), experience with inventory control, understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, problem solving and communication skills.
