Hi. My name is Hannah, and I’m The Bellingham Herald’s new criminal justice and accountability reporter. I’ll primarily be focusing on the courts here in Whatcom County.

I came to The Herald from the Delaware News Journal, where I covered criminal justice and breaking news for over three years. I have published investigations on topics including the opioid crisis, mental health and suicide in prisons, and child abuse.

I hail from Cleveland, Ohio, where I started my journalism career at my high school newspaper. I studied journalism and film at Boston University with a minor in Spanish. During that time, I worked for multiple student publications and had the opportunity to intern and study in Madrid, Spain and Washington, D.C.

I recently moved to Burlington from Whidbey Island. Outside of the newsroom, I enjoy watching movies, reading and spending time with my two cats.

I’m looking forward to getting to know the Bellingham community and telling the stories that matter. If you have tips or story ideas, reach out to me at hedelman@bellinghamherald.com or on X at @h_edelman.
