Bellingham Police arrest middle school student following social media threats against school

Bellingham police arrested a male middle school student who is accused of posting social media threats to shoot up a school.

Police received a tip regarding the post around 6:46 p.m. Wednesday from a person living in Bellingham, according to Megan Peters with the Bellingham Police Department.

The boy was identified as a Kulshan Middle School student with help from Bellingham Public Schools, and he was arrested around 9:55 p.m. on suspicion of felony harassment, a class C felony in Washington. Peters said the suspect was booked into the Whatcom County Juvenile Detention Center.
