Fire damages Columbia neighborhood home in Bellingham; several family pets likely lost
Dozens of Bellingham residents watched as fire crews responded to a house fire in Bellingham’s Columbia neighborhood on Friday afternoon.
Bellingham Fire Department crews initially responded to the house fire on the corner of Victor Street and Washington Street in just after 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept 27.
Smoke could be seen coming out of the house as fire crews worked to assess the situation. A back portion of the house appeared to be significantly burned.
Crews were seen removing at least one dog from the house, providing it with oxygen and performing CPR before covering it and relocating it to the side yard of the house.
Several pets in the home were suspected to be deceased.
The fire appeared to be mostly out by about 3:15 p.m.
Information regarding the fire’s cause and origin, and a damage estimate were not immediately available. There did not appear to be any fire-related injuries sustained by occupants living in the home.
