Popular Kroger-brand spices recalled from Fred Meyer stores

If you bought popular Kroger spices such as cinnamon, garlic powder or black pepper recently at Fred Meyer, check the containers to see if they have been recalled.

Kroger is recalling four types of seasonings because of the possibility of salmonella contamination:

▪ Kroger ground cinnamon, 18.3-ounce container.

▪ Kroger garlic powder, 24.7-ounce container.

▪ Kroger coarse ground black pepper, 17.1-ounce container.

▪ Kroger Bac’n’Buds, 12-ounce container.

If you have any of these, check the recalled “sell by” dates and lot numbers in the recall notice at fda.gov.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the seasonings, but a sample of Kroger garlic powder from a South Carolina store was found to be contaminated, according to the recall notice. Out of caution, Kroger recalled all four products made on the same equipment in the same facility.

The affected seasonings have been pulled from store shelves. Some customers in store loyalty programs already have been notified by phone based on their register receipts.
