Downtown Sounds, Bellingham’s summer concert series, announces lineup from across the USA
Downtown Sounds, a series of free, outdoor concerts in downtown Bellingham is back for the summer, with a lineup of headlining artists from across the country.
This year marks the 20th year of Downtown Sounds, and will feature free live concerts each Wednesday from July 10 through August 7.
“Looking back at 20 years, we reflect on Downtown Sounds being born with a simple yet powerful goal: to bring vibrancy and vitality to our community through music and cultural engagement,” the event’s website states.
Each Wednesday, the free event will include live music, food trucks, a beer garden and family activity zone at the e Arts District intersection of Bay, Holly, and Prospect streets.
Downtown Sounds announced their lineup of headlining bands in a news release on Wednesday, May 29, featuring bands from across the country and from the Pacific Northwest:
▪ July 10: Cytrus, a Seattle-based powerfunk group.
▪ July 17: Acorn Project, a Bellingham-based electro-funk group.
▪ July 24: Daniel Pak, a Seattle-based soul and reggae artist.
▪ July 31: The Soul Rebels, a New Orleans-based brass, soul and funk group.
▪ August 7: Pimps of Joytime, a Brooklyn, Bay Area and New Orleans-based fusion funk, soul and afrobeat group.
“Experiencing the growth and evolution of this cherished event truly hugs my heart. We’re thrilled to celebrate 20 years of Downtown Sounds with our incredible community,” Lindsey Payne Johnstone, Executive Director of the Downtown Bellingham Partnership said in the news release.
Downtown Sounds opens at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday. Opening acts will start at 6 p.m. and headlining acts will perform at 7:30 p.m.
