Lynden residents injured in three-vehicle wrong-way crash on Interstate 5 in Shohomish County
Two Lynden residents were injured in a fatal three-vehicle collision April 1 on Interstate 5 in Snohomish County.
The collision was reported at 11:19 a.m. on I-5 northbound, just south of 236th Street in Arlington.
According to a Washington State Patrol incident report, Jason R. Lee, 43, of Arlington was driving a 2001 Chevy south in the northbound lane of I-5 and collided with two other vehicles. The Chevy was heading the wrong way on I-5 when it collided with a 2012 Subaru Outback, which struck a 2014 Honda Odyssey.
The Chevy flipped over and came to rest on the northbound shoulder. The Subaru came to a rest in the median, and the Honda stopped off the right shoulder, according to WSP.
Lee was killed in the crash.
Sharon Herringa, 70, and Randy L. Herringa, 71, of Lynden were in the Subaru. Both were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett with undisclosed injuries. Neither was listed as a patient at the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
Andrew J. Nevins, 37, and Jillian A. Nevins, 35, of Silverdale were in the Honda. Jillian Nevins was taken to a hospital for her injuries. Andrew Nevins was reported no injuries from the crash.
All occupants of the Subaru and the Honda were wearing seat belts, according to WSP, though it’s unknown whether Lee was wearing one.
