A free tour Tuesday, Aug. 4, will be highlighting more than 40 different species of trees planted in Broadway Park.
Longtime Bellingham Parks and Recreation volunteer John Wesselink will be leading the one-hour tour, which will begin with a 6 p.m. check-in at the Roeder Home at 2600 Sunset Drive.
People will return to the home afterward for a reception and refreshments provided by the nonprofit Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation at 7:30.
The Roeder Home also will be open for self-guided tours, and people are encouraged to bring picnic dinners, chairs and blankets to enjoy on the grounds before or after the tour.
