Another scorching summer weekend tied the record for the hottest July 19.
The official high temperature, as recorded at Bellingham International Airport, hit 89 degrees on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. That tied the record for that date, last reached in 1988.
Inland temperatures were even higher on Sunday. The normal Bellingham temperature in mid-July is 72 degrees.
The weather this week is expected to be much cooler, with highs in the low 70s or upper 60s and a chance of rain Wednesday and Friday.
