Lake Whatcom Boulevard will be closed for a week for culvert repairs

The Bellingham Herald

A half-mile section of Lake Whatcom Boulevard will be closed for several days next week so a failing culvert can be repaired.

Lake Whatcom Boulevard will be closed from Lake Louise Road to just before Sudden Valley Gate 28 from 7 a.m. Monday to 4 p.m. Friday, the Whatcom County Public Works Department said in an email.

“The closure applies to all traffic, including emergency vehicles and school buses,” Public Works said.

Lake Whatcom Boulevard will be open to local traffic only from the intersection of Cain Lake Road/South Bay Drive north to Lake Louise Road.

About 1,600 cars daily used Lake Whatcom Boulevard at Lake Louise Road in 2007, the latest traffic count that was available from the Whatcom Council of Governments.
