Investigation into death of Lynden man found in creek ‘largely closed,’ police chief says

The death of a 71-year-old Lynden man whose body was found in a creek was not foul play, Lynden Police Chief Steven Taylor told The Bellingham Herald in an interview Friday, April 14.

The man lived near where he was found, Taylor said.

It may take the Whatcom County Medical Examiner’s office several weeks to determine the exact cause of death, but the police side of the investigation is “largely closed,” Taylor said.

The owner of a nearby business found the body Tuesday afternoon, April 11, near Birch Bay Lynden Road just west of Guide Meridian, according to Deborah Hollis, operations manager and investigator with the medical examiner’s office.
