RV, motorcycle and vehicles lost in fire at Bellingham storage unit
An RV, a motorcycle, at least two other vehicles and personal tools were lost in a storage unit fire Monday, Feb. 13 at 705 Sunset Pond Lane in north Bellingham.
The early morning fire was first reported around 5:30 a.m. by drivers who could see it from I-5, Bellingham Fire Department Captain Dustin Michaelis told The Bellingham Herald.
Fire crews arrived by 5:37 a.m. and found three units fully engulfed in flames, Michaelis said.
It took more than an hour for crews to knock down the fire. They remained at the site of the fire for more than three hours.
No injuries were reported.
Multiple storage units will likely need to be rebuilt due to damage. The unit where the fire began is considered a total loss and other units likely have smoke damage from the fire, Michaelis said.
“It’s a significant amount of dollar value lost,” he added.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though Michaelis confirmed it was not considered suspicious.
