Affordable rent in Bellingham: These areas have the lowest rental prices

If you’re looking for an apartment to rent or need to find more affordable housing in Bellingham, you may be able to save some cash just by moving a few miles.

Current listings for Bellingham rental units show prices have changed throughout the past month, as the average rent for a studio apartment increased by 7%, while the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment decreased by 9%. The average rent for a two-bedroom apartment also decreased by 3%, according to current rental listings in a report from Zumper.com, a website with rental postings and information.

The average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Bellingham was $1,269 as of Dec. 31, 2022, a decrease from November’s average cost of $1,395, according to Zumper.

The current average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Bellingham as of Dec. 31 is $1,800 a month, a $25 decrease from Dec. 3, according to Zumper.

Bellingham’s 98225 ZIP code area rental costs have seen a recent decrease in December 2022, dropping down to an average $1,495 in December, compared to $1,850 in October, according to RentHub, a rental housing data company. RentHub examines prices from current listings on the market of houses, multiplexes and apartments of all bed/bath sizes.

In the 98226 zip code, prices increased $77 from November to an average rent of $2,050 in December.

The most affordable rental prices in Bellingham

Compared to November 2021, rental prices have increased in the 98225 ZIP code by 7.5% in November 2022, with an average median rent of $1,500. The 98226 zip code rental prices also increased between 2021 and 2022, reaching an average rental price of $1,973 in November 2022, a 9.6% increase.

Rental prices in the 98229 ZIP code saw a decrease compared to November 2021, dropping 39.6% by November 2022 with a median rent price of $1,205, a $745 decrease from October 2022.

If you are looking for an affordable rental in Bellingham, looking in the 98229 zip code could save you over $700 a month compared to 98226’s average rental prices.
