Save on rent in Whatcom County. These areas have the lowest rental prices in the county
Finding affordable housing can be hard, and as prices in Whatcom County’s rental prices have continued to fluctuate, choosing which part of the city to live in could save you cash.
Bellingham’s rental prices have seen changes throughout the past month, as the average rent for a studio apartment increased by 2%, while the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment increased by 5%. The average rent for a two-bedroom apartment decreased by 1%, according to a report from Zumper.com, a website with rental postings and information.
The average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Bellingham was $1,395 throughout November, according to Zumper. A two-bedroom apartment averaged $1,840 throughout November.
The current average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Bellingham as of Dec. 3 is $1,825 a month, a $25 decrease from October, according to Zumper.
Bellingham’s 98225 ZIP code area rental costs have stayed consistent since mid-year, averaging $1,850 a month from July 2022 to October, according to RentHub, a rental housing data company. RentHub examines prices from houses, multiplexes and apartments of all bed/bath sizes.
In the 98226 zip code, prices slightly decreased from September to October, dropping $3 to an average rent of $1,947 in October. RentHub has not yet updated the average rental costs for November 2022.
Compared to October 2021, rental prices have steeply increased in the 98225 ZIP code by 19.35% in October 2022, with an average median rent of $1,850. The 98225 zip code rental prices fluctuated greatly between the 2021 and 2022, reaching a two year high of $1,850 in July 2022 and remaining at $1,850 through October.
Rental prices in the 98229 ZIP code saw a larger increase compared to October 2021, jumping 21.8% by October 2022 with a median rent price of $1,950.
Rental prices in the 98226 ZIP code saw an increase of 9.1% between October 2021 to October 2022, also with a median rent price of $1,950.
