All lanes of southbound Interstate 5 south of Bellingham reopened at 9:25 a.m. after closing five hours earlier Wednesday, Nov. 30, because of a crash that was backing up traffic for several miles.

A semi-truck was on its side, the Washington State Department of Transportation told The Bellingham Herald in a Twitter message.

Southbound traffic was being diverted around the wreck using on- and off-ramps at North Lake Samish, milepost 246.

WSDOT maps showed heavy southbound traffic from the crash cite to Old Fairhaven Parkway in Bellingham.

There was no information about injuries.
