Save on rent in Bellingham as these areas have the lowest rental prices in the city
Finding affordable housing can be hard, but recent changes in Bellingham’s rental prices may offer some hope for those needing a home.
Bellingham’s 98225 ZIP code area rental costs decreased in October, dropping from $1,850 in September to a median rental cost of $1,600, according to RentHub, a rental housing data company. RentHub examines prices from houses, multiplexes and apartments of all bed/bath sizes.
RentHub did not collect data in October for the 98226 ZIP code median rental prices, but in September the median rental cost was $1,950, an increase from $1,819 in August.
Compared to October 2021, rental prices have steeply increased in the 98225 ZIP code by 18.5% in October 2022, with an average median rent of $1,600.
Rental prices in the 98229 ZIP code saw a larger increase compared to October 2021, jumping 20% by October 2022 with a median rent price of $1,800.
Bellingham’s rental prices have seen changes throughout the past month, as the average rent for a studio apartment decreased by 7%, while the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment increased by 3%. The average rent for a two-bedroom apartment did not change, according to a report from Zumper.com.
The average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Bellingham ranged between $1,295 to $1,325 in October, according to Zumper. A two-bedroom apartment averaged $1,850, the same price as September’s average.
The current average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Bellingham as of Oct. 29 is $1,850 a month, a 23% increase in cost compared to last year, according to Zumper.
